Mel was born and raised in southern California up in what is called the ‘high desert’ portion of the the Mojave Desert. Being outside of the sprawling cityscape of the L.A. basin, it allowed him to enjoy the aspects of small town life riding dirt bikes, shooting guns, and generally getting into the typical trouble a teenage boy, and his friends, usually did. The open air, wild wilderness, and pristine waters of Montana have been his home for decades where he and the love of his life have raised their family of four kids.
Six years in the National Guard as an infantryman and sniper, a career as a software engineer, owning and running his own business (Sniper Central), and raising his family have all given him experiences from which to draw on when writing. Telling a good story has always been a passion and pleasure for him and being able to finally take the time and put that story telling ability to good use writing books has been a thrill.
